Criteria for GEM of the Month

Who is Eligible?
The GEM of the Month program is for grade school/high school students and meant to promote leadership in and out of the classroom. The student must exemplify outstanding leadership characteristics as a student, team or club member, and/or a citizen of the community. This award is designed to nominate and select students who promote and take pride in their school/team/club and in themselves.

Who Nominates?
Students may be nominated by parents/family, teachers, coaches, or club/community leaders. The nominator must complete the nomination form below and can only nominate one (1) student per month.

The members of Be a GEM Foundation will closely analyze the candidates and choose the one they see most fitting for the award. Selected student's picture and name will be showcased on the Be a GEM Foundation’s website and other social media. The administration will also present a GEM of the Month certificate to the student.

Fikiri moved to Canada a few months ago with his family. He comes to school with a big smile on his face every day. He is eager to learn and finds new ways to communicate even when he doesn't yet know the words. He is a kind and respectful friend to his peers and a joy to teach!

Nomination Form
Any current elementary or high school student is eligible to be nominated. You may not nominate yourself for this award. Please answer every question in order to give your candidate the best opportunity for being named our GEM of the Month. In addition, any examples and detailed information you can provide are helpful.
