Along with Emma's impressive academic and athletic achievements, she is also the founder of "Be the Good" non-profit organization. Emma created the organization when she was 14 years old in aim of helping others in need and inspiring our community to act through kindness and compassion. Each year, a group of volunteers plan an event to engage the community in a day full of giving back - from simple acts of kindness to raising money through fundraisers for local charities. Emma is an outstanding community leader!

Lauren Carlini Highlights & Achievements
Lauren has demonstrated strong leadership skills, both in academics and in her participation with various student organizations. Throughout her four years in high school, Lauren has been a member of student council and has received Honour Roll status, achieving an overall average of +95%. Lauren has devoted over 1000 volunteer hours and has helped lead many fundraisers and charitable causes including Haitus House, the Amherstburg Food Bank, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the Downtown Mission. Lauren was also chosen to represent her school at the Ontario Leadership Conference.
Lauren is a dancer at Dance Barre and was awarded the prestigious honour of Dance Barre Amabassador, exemplifying her professionalism, dedication and kindness to fellow dancers. At the age of 16, Lauren decided to spread her love for dance by creating the non-profit organization, Dance to Inspire. Attending local elementary schools in low income areas, Lauren shares her passion for dance by teaching, motivating and inspiring children who are often not able to afford extra curricular activities.
The Vats Memorial Scholarship was created in honour of our loving grandmother. She was strong, compassionate, independent, and most of all full of love. She wore her heart on her sleeve and lived her life giving back to others. The annual Vats Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a recipient whose traits are just as generous.

VATS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Be a GEM Scholarship Fund is for grade twelve students who have dedicated their time to community service, academic involvement, and/or leadership ability to direct and inspire others. Although there are no restrictions to the kind of work being done, applicants must be able to show long-term commitment and how they've made an impact in their school and community.
